Corporate Social Responsibility

Fertile Ground Communications outlined its corporate social responsibility in this article, "Don't Let BLMwashing Become the New Greenwashing." #BlackLivesMatter. We have set the following aspirations and goals (the ones in italics are aspirational, and the rest we are already doing):

  • Use my platform and voice to advocate for racial justice; diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace; and creating more safe workspaces for BIPOC. See examples here.


Girls Inc. activity at CH2M HILL

  • Use images and stories of BIPOC in my writing and on my website, and remind my clients of the need for representation online and in company demographics. 

  • Continue to advance my own anti-racism education.

  • Commit to at least 10 percent of pro bono work for community organizations that work for racial, immigration, and gender justice. Make regular monetary donations to and spotlight anti-racism organizations. 

  • Invest in environmentally friendly equipment and office supplies, minimize the use of single-occupancy vehicles and printing, and use online meeting tools or mass transit whenever possible for business meetings.

  • Support local business and pay a living wage to employees and vendors.Give my money to BIPOC and minority-owned businesses when I hire vendors. Seek to hire BIPOC when I expand my business.

  • Use my platform to center BIPOC voices by featuring them on my podcast, "Finding Fertile Ground."
